HC Deb 27 February 1978 vol 945 c22W
Mr. Loyden

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether it is his policy that operations at Liverpool Airport should be confined to third level services as defined in the White Paper on airports policy.

Mr. Clinton Davis

No. The White Paper explained that the definitions of airport categories should be interpreted flexibly since they would not necessarily be precisely relevant to all airports. It suggested that Liverpool airport might continue to provide broadly the same range of services as at present and forecast that traffic might increase to 1 million passengers a year in 1990 compared with 355,000 in 1976.
