HC Deb 15 February 1978 vol 944 cc255-6W
Mr. Newens

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if, in view of the importance of maintaining a modern and efficient milk processing and distribution industry and the necessity of capital investment in this, he will make a statement on future prospects for the door-to-door delivery system, particularly in the light of EEC policies.

Mr. Bishop

The daily doorstep delivery system is a central feature of the marketing of milk in the United Kingdom and has played a key role in maintaining our high level of liquid consumption. In making proposals recently to safeguard the future of the Milk Marketing Boards, the European Commission confirmed that this coincided with Community policy in the milk sector.
