asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in order that a comparison may be made with the 87 Soviet Embassy cars in London, and the 92 Soviet Embassy personnel enjoying diplomatic immunity (H.C. Debates, 16th December 1977, columns 48–78), they will state how many cars are run by the British Embassy in Moscow, and how many British personnel there enjoy diplomatic immunity.


The British Embassy in Moscow runs a total of 16 cars plus 6 other motor vehicles.

The total number of personnel at the British Embassy in Moscow who have diplomatic immunity is:—

Diplomatic Staff Administrative and Technical Staff

* Administrative and technical staff who enjoy full diplomatic immunity by virtue of certain reciprocal arrangements as provided for in Section 7(1) of the Diplomatic Privileges Act 1964.
