§ Miss Margaret JacksonFigures of teachers in post in schools are collected by my Department only at January each year. The figures given below, which are derived from regular returns made to my Department by each local education authority, relate to all school teachers in the LEAs' employment at 30th September 1977 whether or not they are in the schools on that date; for example, they include those seconded for in-service training.
