§ Lord O'HAGANasked Her Majesty's Government:
How many "British" places in the Commission of the EEC are vacant; and why.
§ Lord GORONWY-ROBERTSThe Commission is responsible for recruitment of its staff and the Commission Staff Regulations do not permit posts to be reserved for a particular Member State. In terms of numbers the United Kingdom has approximtely the right level of representation in the most senior grades, though we are less well represented in some of the lower grades.
