§ Mr. Ridsdaleasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will order an inquiry into the fire that took place in a home in Carnarvon Road, Clacton-on-Sea, where ex-hospital patients who were in receipt of medical benefit were living ; and whether he is satisfied that the regulations governing the precautions in such homes are satisfactory.
§ Mr. Armstrong:This matter is being investigated inter-departmentally. Ministers will consider in the light of that investigation whether any further action is necessary by central Government. I will then write to the hon. Member and will 657W deal also with the question of powers in relation to fire safety.
