§ Mr. Cryerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state the proportion of advertising carried out (a) by the United Kingdom and (b) by other EEC members under the EEC second supplies directive since 1st July 1978; and when it became a requirement that all central and local government purchasing authorities should advertise contracts worth £130,000 or more in the EEC Official Journal.
§ Mr. Joel Barnett:In the period to 30th November there have been 262 advertisements for supplies requirements in the EEC Official Journal. Following is the breakdown between member States:
United Kingdom 237 Denmark 12 Belgium 8 France 5 262 It becames a requirement to advertise supplies contracts over £130,000 in the EEC Official Journal from 1st July 1978 when the second supplies directive came into force.
