HC Deb 12 December 1978 vol 960 c121W
Mr. Kenneth Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many applications for financial assistance under section 7 of the Industry Act 1972 have been rejected on the grounds of the applicant's non-compliance with Government incomes policy.

Mr. Les Huckfield:

A company's pay settlement is only one of a number of factors which are considered before financial assistance under section 7 of the Industry Act can be offered, and an application can fail for a variety of reasons.

Records of the reasons for applications failing are not kept centrally and the information requested is, therefore, not readily available.
