§ Mr. Hollandasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether any part of the 83 per cent. increase during the past two years in the annual pay of the chairman of the National Dock Labour Board was due to an adjustment of the time input basis of calculation; and, if so, if he will specify the change in time input basis and the increase in annual gross emoluments directly attributable to this.
§ Mr. Harold Walker:The board was reconstituted under the Dock Work Regulation Act 1976. The present chairman was appointed on 1st August 1977 with increased responsibilities and on the basis that three days attendance each week would be required compared with two days given by his predecessor. £2,136 per annum of the current gross salary is directly attributable to the increased time input.
§ Mr. Hollandasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list in the Official Report the full-time occupation and the part-time official appointments held by the chairman of the National Dock Labour Board.
§ Mr. Harold Walker:I am not aware that he has any other occupation, or holds any part-time official appointments other than the chairmanship of the National Dock Labour Board.
