§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress has been reported in representations 544W from the Nature Conservancy Council and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers to work for the conservation of village ponds in view of their diminishing numbers.
§ Mr. Denis HowellFollowing the demise of the"Save the Village Pond"campaign, the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers has now submitted a request to my Department for an increase in the level of grant which it currently receives to enable it inter alia to contribute significantly to the maintenance of village ponds. The NCC has indicated its support for this application.
