HC Deb 04 December 1978 vol 959 cc542-3W
Mr. Hicks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list, for the financial year for which figures are available, the total budget of the Development Commission, the amount spent in the South-West assisted area and equivalent figures per head of the insured population for the area covered by the Commission in England and the South-West assisted area, respectively.

Mr. Marks

For 1977–78 the Development Commission's total expenditure was £8.821 million. Information about the amount spent in the South-West assisted area is not readily available. £1.6 million was spent in Devon and Cornwall as a whole. The equivalent figures per head of insured population for England, and Devon and Cornwall are £0.40 and £2.97 respectively.
