§ Mr. Mulley:As I explained in my answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Preston, South (Mr. Thorne)—[Vol. 958, c. 536]—the United States Defence Secretary confirmed at the ministerial meeting of NATO's nuclear planning group in October that President Carter was retaining the options he had decided upon in April. A copy of the communique issued after the meeting was placed in the Library of the House on 21st November.
