Mr. Crawshaw

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what is the total youth population registered in the Liverpool 8 area for employment; and how many of these are currently unemployed;

(2) how many of the 16 to 18-year-olds currently on and off the register in the Liverpool 8 area are presently unemployed.

Mr. Golding

At 6th July, 7,685 young people under 19 years of age were registered as unemployed in the Liverpool employment office area. Information is not available for the unregistered unemployed or, by age, for employed registrants seeking a change of job.

Mr. Crawshaw

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many of the 16 to 18-year-olds registered in the Liverpool 8 area for employment are currently on youth opportunity programme schemes; and how many have started on such schemes since 1st April.
