HC Deb 03 August 1978 vol 955 cc748-9W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, in view of the recent statement of the Government concerning the Port of London Authority, what further consideration he has given to the needs of the surrounding areas.

Mr. Shore

I have had discussions with the Docklands Partnership and we will continue to study the economic and social consequences for the dockland boroughs of the developing situation in the upper docks. The Government now propose to apply to a wider area of the five dockland boroughs the present preference for IDC purposes, and the full powers of the Inner Urban Areas Act.

I am putting in the Library of the House a map showing the area concerned.
