§ Mr. Hayhoeasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish details of the percentage of the total labour force covered by the indices of basic wage rates who have settled in each month since 31st July 1975.
§ Mr. GoldingThe available information for each month relates to the numbers of manual workers affected by nationally-negotiated increases in rates of wages which became effective in the month. The monthly figures from August 1975, expressed as percentages of the total number of manual workers affected by national agreements and wages orders, are given below.
Not all agreements are revised every year and some provide for more than one increase in some years, for example, increases by stages or increases related to movements in retail prices.
Figures for recent months are liable to upward revision to take account of settlements having restrospective effect.
