HC Deb 03 August 1978 vol 955 c610W
Mr. Dudley Smith

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why the records of 6,000 employees of Automotive Products Ltd. of Leamington Spa have been moved by the Inland Revenue from its local department to its office in Solihull, thus causing considerable inconvenience and difficulty for those with tax queries, as well as official expense through the continual passing of files between the two offices when such queries arise, and by telephone calls and letters.

Mr. Denzil Davies

The records in question were moved from the inspector of taxes' office at Leamington Spa to the office in Solihull in May 1978 because of serious overcrowding in the office at Leamington for which no local solution is immediately available.

The staff in the Leamington office are, however, still available to give assistance to personal callers employed by this firm.
