HC Deb 02 August 1978 vol 955 cc465-6W
Mr. Robert Cooke

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the total value of the indemnity offered to private owners who have loaned works of art and all other objects to museums, galleries, embassies, historic buildings and all other places to which the Government has responsibility; and when these values were last updated to take account of inflation.

Mr. Marks

The total value of such indemnities for which my right hon. Friend is responsible is about £4 million. The date of the latest valuation varies from case to case.
