§ Mr. Harold WalkerAt 1st July 1978 there were 504 permanent staff employed in the industrial tribunals organisation. At the same date there were 80 full-time chairmen of tribunals, including the president for England and Wales and the president for Scotland. At 1st July 1977 and 1st July 1976 the corresponding figures were 511 and 78, and 471 and 60 respectively.
The number of part-time chairmen and lay members available at those dates was as follows:

§ Mr. Harold WalkerThe information available is for financial years. Expediture on salaries, fees and directly related expenses cost £4,295,000 in 1976–77, and £4,731,000 in 1977–78. In 1978–79 for the three months ended 30th June 1978 expenditure was £1,321,000.
