§ Mr. Patrick Jenkinasked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he expects to receive the outcome of the study being made on the payment of supplementary benefits in trade disputes referred to in paragraph 4.15 of Social Assistance; by whom the study is being made; whether those undertaking it are consulting with interests outside the Government; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. OrmeThis study is being made by officials, but it is too early to say how long it will take. Account is being taken of evidence and representations received on the subject, and the Supplementary Benefits Commission will be giving me its views. I will be considering the question of consultations with others outside the Government in due course.
