HC Deb 01 August 1978 vol 955 c229W
Mr. Lawrence

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list and summarise the current trade and technology agreements which the United Kingdom has with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, stating their financial implications where appropriate.

Mr. Dell

I have been asked to reply.

We have no current trade agreement with the USSR since trade agreements with third countries fall within the exclusive competence of the EEC Commission.

We have two agreements with the USSR which cover co-operation in the field of technology: the Agreement for Co-operation in the fields of Applied Science and Technology, concluded on 19th January 1968, and the Agreement on the Development of Economic, Scientific, Technological and Industrial Co-operation, concluded on 6th May 1974. Neither of these agreements has any financial implications.
