asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the unemployed situation in the Cowdenbeath area.

Mr. Gregor MacKenzie

On 6th July 1978 there were 1,207 males and 658 females registered unemployed in the Cowdenbeath employment office area. Cowdenbeath forms part of the Dunfermline travel-to-work area, where the percentage of males and females registered unemployed was 8.3 per cent. and 10.8 per cent., respectively.
