§ 19. Lord James Douglas-Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many council houses were sold during the last year and in the current year to date in each region in Scotland; what is his present policy on the sale of council houses, after representations made to him at the recent Labour Party conference in Scotland and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Hugh D. BrownDuring 1977, 61 sales of council houses were completed according to returns made to my Department: 21 in Highland, 26 in Grampian and 14 in Borders Regions. So far this year eight sales have been reported in Highland, three in Grampian and one in Borders Regions. I am considering the many reactions to the Green Paper (Cmnd. 6852) before reviewing present 149W policy on sale of council houses which is set out in SDD Circular No. 36/1974.
