HL Deb 19 April 1978 vol 390 c1324WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware of the subsidies offered by the Irish Government to Irish cheese producers; whether such subsidies are compatible with the Treaty of Rome and the Common Agricultural policy; whether they have discussed these subsidies with the Commission of the EEC or the Council of Ministers; and whether they will make a Statement.

Lord STRABOLGI

The Government are not aware that any subsidies are being granted by the Irish Government specifically for Irish cheese producers. What representations they have made to the Irish Government about their subsidies on cheese.

Lord STRABOLGI

The Government are not aware of any such subsidies and consequently no representations have been made to the Irish Government.

Lord O'HAGAN

Lord STRABOLGI

The Government are not aware of any such subsidies.
