§ 27. Mr. Michael Lathamasked the Secretary of State for the Environment when income arising from the implementation of the Community Land Act is expected to exceed expenditure.
§ Mr. FreesonWhile the scheme is growing, expenditure on new acquisitions is always likely to exceed income from disposals. I hope that will be the position for some years.
§ 40. Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment, further to his reply to the hon. Member for Eastbourne (Mr. Gow), Official Report 16th February, column 305–6, why no figures for staff employed by local authorities as a result of the Community Land Act 1975 are available centrally; and if he will take steps to collect such information.
§ Mr. Guy BarnettThe usual practice is for staff to combine community land-scheme duties with other work. The important, and more accurate, measure is thus the apportioned expenditure of authorities on staff and administration. This is closely monitored by the Departments concerned.
