§ 31. Mr. Dudley Smithasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will now give further consideration to 369W the official registration of fully-qualified chiropractors, in view of the large number of people who consult them.
§ Mr. DeakinsNo. I understand that the chiropractors were unsuccessful in their application to the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine for the extension of the Act to cover the profession of chiropractic. It is always open to them to apply again to the council if they consider that they can now meet the requirements of the Act. Meanwhile chiropractors remain at liberty to practise their profession under common law, and I see no justification for separate legislation to be enacted to provide for any other form of State registration than that for which the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act makes provision.
