§ 25. Mr. Litterickasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will use his planning agreement powers under the Industry Act 1975 to rectify the fact that Ford Motor Company (UK) Ltd., Vauxhall Ltd. and Chrysler (UK) Ltd. are net importers to the United Kingdom of motor vehicles and components.
§ Mr. CryerThere are no planning agreement or other powers in the Industry Act 1975 to empower the type of action required by my hon. Friend's Question. With regard to the companies named in the Question, all are in fact net exporters from the United Kingdom of motor vehicles and components, their total contribution in 1977 being in excess of £520 million.
