HC Deb 10 April 1978 vol 947 c338W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if he can now indicate what steps he intends to take to prevent the rise in injuries from fireworks caused by incidents in the streets as shown in the published figures of such injuries in 1977.

Mr. John Fraser

The consultations foreshadowed in my reply to my hon. Friend, the Member for Bradford, South (Mr. Torney) on 8th March—[Vol. 945, c. 692–6]—have not yet been completed. In addition to whatever steps are decided upon in the light of these discussions, we shall emphasise in this year's firework safety campaign the illegality and potential danger of letting off fireworks in the street and the penalties to which offenders are liable on conviction.
