HC Deb 04 April 1978 vol 947 c104W
Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when she expects further progress in resolving the question of the university teachers' pay anomaly; how many other such anomalies have already been dealt with by her Department; and for what groups of employees.

Mr. Oakes

Following the recent 1977–78 pay settlement for university teachers, negotiations are to be continued on the question of their outstanding pay anomaly. I am unable to forecast how long they will take. Apart from a few groups whose pay has customarily been linked to that of university teachers, and whose anomalies therefore remain unrectified, no similar pay anomaly has occurred since July 1975 among any of the groups of employees with which my Department is concerned.
