§ Mr. Sproatasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what has been the total cost of running the Meat and Livestock Commission, including all main constituent costs of any sort whatsoever, such as expenditure on its own programmes, wages, rent, heating and lighting and maintenance in the latest 12 months for which figures are available; and what are the projected costs for 1978–79.

Detailed accounts up to 31st March 1977 are contained in the Meat and Livestock Commission's Tenth Annual Report, which was laid before the House on 16th January 1978. The projected expenditure for 1978–79 is £12,228,000. This includes the cost of Government agency
