§ Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the wages councils currently under investigation by the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service with a view to abolition or merger; and give a progress report of each investigation.
§ Mr. John Grant:Wages councils under investigation by ACAS are fur, button manufacturing, toy manufacturing and laundry; though abolition or merger was not necessarily in mind in these cases.
I understand that ACAS has completed its inquiries into button manufacturing and that a report is in preparation. Inquiries into the other three councils are continuing.
