Mr. Onslow

asked the Minister for Overseas Development what are the estimated costs to public funds of United Kingdom membership of (a) the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation and (b) the International Labour Organisation for the current financial year, and for 1978–79, respectively.

Mrs. Hart:

The estimated United Kingdom contribution to the budget of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation is $5,033,728 (£2,960,000) for the current financial year and $5,054,000 for 1978–79. I understand from my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment that the United Kingdom contribution to the budget of the International Labour Organisation for the current financial year is $4,209,539 (£2,450,967) and the estimated contribution for 1978–79 is $3,850,000.
