HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 c886W
Mr. George

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many applications under the job creation scheme have been received (a) from Walsall district, (b) West Midlands County Council area; how many of these have been successful; and if he is satisfied as to the number of applications emanating from Walsall.

Mr. Golding:

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission, which administers the Job Creation Programme, that of the 45 applications received for projects in the Walsall district 16 have been approved and two are under consideration. 505 applications have been received in the West Midlands County Council area of which 221 have been approved and 19 are under consideration. I understand that the Commission would welcome further applications for suitable JCP projects throughout the West Midlands area. All applications should be submitted by 31st December 1977.
