Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is being done to persuade the EEC to assist industry in the United Kingdom and elsewhere to restructure itself during a period when restrictions upon imports take place.

I have been asked to reply.

We understand that the Commission is considering the problem of the textiles and clothing industry and no doubt can be expected to make its views known to member States when they are classified.
