HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 c851W
Mr. Ronald Brown

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment why, having regard to the serious industrial and environmental decay evident in Hackney, South and Shoreditch, he has not allocated any money available from the various funds of the European Economic Community to assist in rehabilitating this area.

Mr. Shore:

Under the terms of the European Regional Development Fund, which is the only European source of funds with which I am directly concerned, grants are currently available in respect of eligible infrastructure investments related to industrial investments but only in the assisted areas. There are no grants available from the ERDF specifically for environmental projects.
