HC Deb 30 November 1977 vol 940 cc241-2W
Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what developments he expects in Scotland following the Chancellor of the Exchequer's financial help to the construction industry.

Mr. Millan

Of the £400 million additional allocation for 1978–79, £15 million has been allotted to the Scottish Development Agency to enable it to implement plans for increased programmes of factory building and environmental improvement. Scottish Health Boards will receive £2 million for minor works. £22 million has been earmarked for capital expenditure on housing in Scotland, including additional new building and improvement work by local authorities and the new town development corporations; and £13 million has been included in the allocations made to local authorities for education, social work, police and environmental services, thus enabling them to undertake a substantial number of additional projects.
