HC Deb 23 November 1977 vol 939 cc788-9W
50. Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment further to his reply to the hon. Member for Brent South, Official Report, 8th November, c. 498, if the London borough of Brent will receive any additional help to cope with inner city deprivation in the light of policies announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 26th October and by him on 8th November.

Mr. Shore

I recognise that Brent has serious urban problems, and we shall give what help we can through the rate support grant, housing subsidies and other main programmes. Brent will also be able to apply for assistance from the £10 million which I announced in my statement would be available for new urban programme projects next year, and grants will continue to be available on a project basis under the enhanced urban programme from 1979 onwards.
