§ Mr. Clemitsonasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will publish a list of the abbreviations commonly used by his Department in parliamentary speeches, statements and answers to Questions with their respective meanings.
§ Dr. GilbertExcept for those abbreviations which are in common use and are readily understood it is our practice to explain the meaning of an abbreviation on the first occasion it appears in the text of a speech, statement or answer. A complete list of abbreviations is not 627W readily available. However, I hope to be able to place a fairly comprehensive one in the House of Commons Library in due course.
