HC Deb 15 November 1977 vol 939 c151W
Mr. Bryan Davies

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he has any plans to review the food and drugs legislation in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Strang

Yes. The many changes in food technology and distribution that have taken place since Parliament last legislated in the 1950s, coupled with the effect of our accession to the EEC, indicate the need for a review. My right hon. Friends the Minister and the Secretaries of State for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Social Services agree that this shall be undertaken, and a consultative document will be issued in the summer of 1978.
