HC Deb 11 November 1977 vol 938 cc309-10W
Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether or not a permanent site has yet been selected to house the European Trade Marks Office in London; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Clinton Davis:

Active consideration is being given to selecting a suitable site in London which will commend itself to our European partners. It is hoped to make a further statement on the Government's proposals quite shortly.

Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if the Government are mounting a publicity campaign concerning the United Kingdom Government's bid to have the European Trade Marks Office sited in London; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Clinton Davis:

No. It is not considered that at this stage a publicity campaign would be appropriate or helpful to our claim.
