HC Deb 10 November 1977 vol 938 cc166-7W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the road, water and sewerage schemes in the council areas of Londonderry, Limavady and Coleraine which will begin in the current and in the next financial year as a result of the statement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 26th October.

Mr. Carter:

The apportionment of additional money in the financial year 1978–79 for the construction industry has not yet been finalised.

The additional funds will enable a number of small water and sewerage schemes to be brought forward, particularly in those areas which are most in need of mains services. For road schemes it is proposed that the main use of the additional funds will be to bring forward within the five—year programme the starting date of major schemes already programmed.

Consultation will take place with the district councils affected as to priorities within their area and I shall advise the hon. Member when this has been completed.
