HC Deb 10 November 1977 vol 938 cc237-8W
Mr. George Grant

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many schemes have been granted to each local authority in the county of Northumberland under the job creation scheme for the conversion of land into allotments.

Mr. Golding:

I have been asked to reply.

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that no projects involving the conversion of land into allotments have been funded under the job creation programme in Northumberland.

Mr. George Grant

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many schemes have been accepted nationally under the job creation scheme for the conversion of land into allotments ; and what has been the total amount allocated.

Mr. Golding:

I have been asked to reply.

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that precise national figures for the number of projects for the conversion of land to allotments and the total amount of grants allocated from job creation programme funds are not readily available. However, it is estimated that between 60 and 80 such projects have been approved.
