HC Deb 08 November 1977 vol 938 cc74-5W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Prime Minister if he will take steps to hold a referendum in Scotland and Wales on the question of devolution before a decision is reached by Parliament.

Mr. John Smith

I have been asked to reply.

No. Both the Scotland Bill and the Wales Bill contain provision for an advisory referendum to be held after the legislation has been enacted.
