§ Mr. Gordon Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will show the numbers of trained and untrained social workers employed in each region; and if he will express these figures in percentage terms.
§ Mr. McElhoneThe following table shows numbers—whole-time equivalent—of senior and specialist staff at 31st March 1976. Figures for that date for Strathclyde and Lothian Regions are not available. The term "senior and specialist staff" includes all social workers in social work department headquarters and area offices, but excludes those social workers—in general a minority—working in other places—e.g., hospitals—and includes certain other senior and specialist staff—e.g., occupational therapists. Figures of "qualified" staff relate to those who hold social work qualifications or declarations of experience.
