HC Deb 26 May 1977 vol 932 c578W
Mr. Molloy

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what encouragement is given to the Metropolitan Police to use motor cycles of British rather than those of foreign manufacture; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Summerskill

The Metropolitan Police fleet of operational motor cycles consists predominantly of British-made machines. Before new machines are bought, account is taken of the advice issued to chief officers of police and police authorities on 25th June 1975 in Home Office Circular No. 107/1975, a copy of which is in the Library of the House.
