§ Mr. Wakehamasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what sums invested on 5th April 1955 and 5th April 1966 would have the same purchasing power as £1,000 invested on 5th April 1975.
§ Mr. Denzil Davies, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 23rd May 1977; Vol. 932, c. 347], gave the following information:
The sums of £340 and £470 in 1955 and April 1966 respectively had internal purchasing power equivalent to that of £1,000 in April 1975.
