§ Mr. Arnoldasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many representations he has recently received from members of the general public concerned about police pay and conditions of service.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesSince 1st August last I have received some 230 letters from members of the public, including wives of police officers, who are concerned about police pay and conditions of service. I have also received a petition on the subject of police pay to which several thousand names were appended, many of which were those of police wives.
