§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he will consider including in future rate demand notes a summary of how the money is to be spent, as is done by local authorities in Great Britain.
§ Mr. DunnOf the total rate demand, approximately two-thirds are on account of the regional rate and one-third on account of the district rate. It is not possible to attribute specific heads of expenditure to the product of the regional rate, which is paid into the Northern Ireland Consolidated Fund together with the proceeds of taxation and other items of revenue. So far as the district rate is concerned, if any district council is prepared to supply the necessary particulars of its planned expenditure, they can be sent out with the rate demand.
