HC Deb 09 May 1977 vol 931 c327W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has now met the Environment Health Officers Association to discuss hygiene standards in hospital kitchens; what action he intends to take; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moyle

Officials of the Welsh Office and of my Department met representatives of the Environmental Health Officers Association on 27th April. It was agreed that new arrangements will be developed to enable prompt and effective action to be taken at hospitals where the standards of food hygiene are found to fall below those laid down by the Food Hygiene (General) Regulations. New guidance will be published by the Department on food hygiene in hospitals and officials of my Department and the Welsh Office will continue to keep in close contact with the association.
