§ Mr. Spearing
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list in the Official Report the salaries and payments available to each member of the Commission of the European Economic Community and their senior assistants and departmental officials together with tax liabilities and expense allowances in cash or kind, stating the body responsible for determining these conditions.
§ Mr. Tomlinson
On responsibility for emoluments I refer my hon. Friend to 395W Articles 154 and 212 of the EEC Treaty and on tax liability to the Protocol on the Privileges and Immunities of the European Communities annexed to the Merger Treaty, the texts of which are available in the Library. Information on the emoluments and taxation of Commissioners was given in the replies which my hon. Friend gave on 19th and 22nd April to the hon. Member for Banbury (Mr. Marten) and some information on other Commission staff in the reply of my hon. Friend the Minister of State, Civil Service Department to my right hon. Friend the Member for Jarrow (Mr. Fernyhough) on 25th April. The conditions of service of Community officials are contained in the Community's Staff Regulations. I am arranging to place a copy in the Library. It would not be practicable to reproduce this information in the Official Report.
