asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what plans he has to simplify the layout of the income tax return.

The Inland Revenue keeps the layout of the income tax return as simple as possible. If the hon. Member has any suggestions I shall be pleased to consider them.

The Inland Revenue keeps the layout of the Income Tax Return constantly under review. The policy is to keep the layout as simple as possible, consistent with the requirements of the law and the need to provide sufficient guidance to taxpayers. If the hon. Member has any suggestions I would be pleased to consider them.
